Music A Gift To Overcoming Personal Struggles
Music has the amazing ability to soothe our minds and bodies, allowing us to escape from the stresses of daily life. What’s more, overcoming personal struggles (with music) can be an incredibly empowering experience, giving us the strength and resolve to push through even the most difficult times.
For many of us, music is the one thing that can get us through tough times. It can provide comfort when we’re feeling down, motivation when we need a boost, and the strength to face our personal struggles and overcome obstacles.
Whether it is a song that reminds you of a loved one or one that inspires you to keep going when you are discouraged, music has the unique ability to uplift spirits and give us the courage we need to overcome our struggles.
I, for one, know that music has always been my go-to when things get tough. Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed or struggling to cope, listening to my favourite tunes can help calm my mind, re-energise my body, and remind me that I can overcome anything.
How Music Transformed My Life
Music has been a true gift to me throughout my life, helping me find strength in difficult times and overcoming personal struggles.
When I was growing up, I was a timid little girl who had no idea how to come across as talkative, clever, or funny. It felt like everyone around me was so much more confident than I was, and I often got tongue-tied when trying to speak up in class or make friends. I quickly realised that there were always people who were louder, brighter and more outgoing than me.
But then, after some time, it became clear to me that listening to my favourite songs and singing along gave me a sense of confidence that I hadn’t felt before. In addition, through music education, I learned about the benefits of discipline. I took many steps toward growing up and becoming successful in the music industry, which has stayed present throughout my life.
As a grown woman, four months after having my daughter, I suffered from a near-death experience. I wasn’t able to talk, walk, or support myself. All I could think of was what would happen to my daughter if I didn’t recover. This was one of the darkest moments of my life, and I felt utterly hopeless.
Music Was the Light in My Darkest Period
I was trained in classical piano when I was a young girl. My family, who had continued to wait patiently by my bedside, remembered my love for music and played a series of classical pieces in an attempt to help me get better.
As the music played, I felt a surge of energy and strength that enabled me to move the middle finger of my right hand. For the first time in a long time, I could feel my body responding to something.
As more time passed, my recovery continued through music and very intense physical, speech, and mental therapy.
Looking back, I cannot help but be in awe of the transformative power of music and how it helped me overcome my obstacles and emerge stronger than ever before.
Today, music remains an integral part of my life, constantly inspiring me to be brave and resilient in overcoming personal struggles. As a classically trained musician, and vocal and performance coach, I have developed a solid dedication to helping people of all ages connect with their inner strength and power through music.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to see first-hand different ways music can change lives for the better.
6 Ways Music Can Help You Overcome Personal Struggles
1. Music Gives Comfort
Music can instantly soothe the soul, providing comfort in times of distress. Listening to your favourite songs can help shift your focus and provide some much-needed relief when you are feeling down.
2. Music Promotes Relaxation
In addition to offering comfort, music can also promote relaxation and reduce stress levels. Whether you’re listening to upbeat tunes or soothing classical pieces, music has the power to calm your mind and body, helping you unwind after a difficult day.
3. Music Improves Sleep Quality and Quantity
If you are struggling with sleep issues, listening to music before bedtime can help lull you into a peaceful slumber. Lack of sleep can negatively impact many aspects of your life, from physical health to work performance, so it’s crucial to find ways to improve sleep quality and quantity.
Slow or classical music is often most effective in promoting sleep, but ultimately any music that relaxes you will do the trick.
4. Music Promotes Emotional Development
Music can stimulate emotions and promote positive mental health. Listening to music allows you to process and understand your feelings, and connect with your inner-self in a meaningful way.
Empathy is one of the most critical aspects of emotional development through music. By listening to music that expresses different emotions, you can better understand how others might feel in certain situations.
5. Music Stimulates Creativity
If you’re feeling stuck in a rut, listening to music can help jumpstart your creativity and inspire new ideas. It helps you build your imagination, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
Whether you’re a musician, artist, writer, or entrepreneur, tapping into your creative side is key to unlocking your unique potential and resilience to overcoming personal struggles.
